The ACOEL wishes to invite you to attend virtually the International Summit on Plastic Pollution, From Research to Action: Responding to Plastic Pollution through Science, to be held at Long Island University in New York City, April 5 – 6, 2022.  Register here for free: https://liu.edu/plastic-pollution-summit. View the schedule here: https://liu.edu/plastic-pollution-summit/schedule.

In the context of the historic March 2, 2022 United Nations Resolution to End Plastic Pollution, the Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE), the French Embassy Office of Science and Technology and Long Island University are co-hosting a transatlantic summit at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus to advance the ongoing work led by French and American universities and research institutions focused on effective practices to make science more accessible and engaged by decision makers. Subsequently rigorous, evidence-informed actions and decisions can be taken to curb the pace of plastic pollution today. The Summit builds on the French American Workshop, Responding to Plastic Pollution through Science: From Research to Action, Le Mans and Paris, France, December 11-13, 2019. The GCSE (formerly the National Council for Science and Environment (NCSE)) is a nongovernmental organization established in 1990 that advances the use of science to inform environmental decision-making. The work of GCSE spans boundaries between science and decision-making to strengthen the impact of durable solutions to environmental challenges. GCSE engages scientists, educators, policymakers, business leaders, and officials at all levels of government.
