Opportunities
ACOEL facilitates ongoing opportunities for members as well as the greater environmental law community.
ACOEL Mentoring and Diversity Outreach Program
There are many ways to practice environmental law and just as many places (locations and organizations) in which to do it. The ACOEL Mentoring and Diversity Outreach Program – or MDOP -connects individuals who are curious about careers in environmental law (Mentees) with experienced environmental lawyers (Mentors).
Annual Herrmann Legal Writing Award
Facilitated by the ACOEL Outreach Committee and funded by the ACOEL Foundation, the annual Herrmann Award highlights exceptional student scholarship that brings new perspectives to environmental law, fostering a new generation of passionate, knowledgeable leaders committed to addressing today’s environmental challenges.
The Herrmann Writing Award is a single stipend of $3,500 to the author of the winning submission, either an article, case note, or essay, plus $500 to the submitting law journal. Candidates are students at U.S. law schools who submit written work that promotes the understanding of legal issues in the field of environmental law.
