Toxic torts, in the context of environmental law, are personal injury and property loss lawsuits claiming harm from exposure to, or interface with, hazardous materials, contaminants, or more generalized pollution or other resource damages.

These cases often rely on complex scientific evidence and intersect with regulatory standards and environmental assessment. ACOEL fellows lead, defend, bring, and examine and critique cases, issues, and developments in this “above the fold” arena.
