Air

Air pollution is regulated to protect public health, welfare and the environment, with the Clean Air Act as its central statutory framework in the United States. It governs how ambient air quality standards are set, are achieved and source specific emissions limitations and implemented.
This area of law is fundamental to environmental practice which is defined by the nexus between state, tribal, and federal agencies in planning and implementing air legislation and regulation. The task is technically and legally complex and impacts the environment, energy, and the economy and thus is subject to much federal litigation. ACOEL fellows tackle a variety of issues that influence regulatory authority and implementation.
