Solid and Hazardous Waste

Federal solid and hazardous waste law is grounded in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other key statutes managing air and water, which governs waste from generation to final disposition. States and tribes also have solid waste laws.
This law topic is central to preventing long-term environmental harm, promoting environmental stewardship and protecting public health, and concerns itself with a wide variety of issues: siting, regulatory classification, waste permitting, corrective action, recycling and reclamation, hazmat transportation, and emerging waste streams relative to impacts on air, water and waste.
