Seema Kakade is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Environmental Law Clinic at the University of Maryland School of Law. Her clinic works on a variety of pro bono legal matters with a focus on environmental justice. Her research and writing interests are in the areas of enforcement, air pollution, and energy. Prior to joining the Maryland faculty in 2017, Seema spent 12 years in federal government service, both as an attorney with USEPA's Office of Air Enforcement and with the USDOE's Office of General Counsel. She also worked as a staff attorney at The Environmental Law Institute and spent a short time in private practice. Seema is a member of several organizations dedicated to the greater Asian American community, including the South Asian Bar Association.
