Chet Tisdale founded the King & Spalding environmental practice. He represented companies and local governments on environmental pollution issues. He served as a mediator or as common counsel for environmental issues in more than 40 cases across the US and Canada. He won a case that required the Navy to return Vieques to Puerto Rico after 60 years of bombing the island. He was recognised in the Best Lawyers and by Chambers. He was Chair of the Litigation section of the Atlanta Bar and the Environmental Law section of the Georgia Bar. He received the Britain award for service to the Environmental Law Section. He served as Executive Director and Board Chair of the Clean Air Campaign, and as a Board Member of Research Atlanta, the Georgia Conservancy, the Emory Law School Board, the Emory Alumni Board, the Chattahoochee Now Board and as a member of the Atlanta Tree Conservation Commission.
