I am currently Senior Advisor to the Investor Network at Ceres, a Boston-based sustainability nonprofit. From 2010 to 2020, I was Senior Program Director for Ceres' network of about 175 institutional investors and led our work with investors on climate change, sustainable investment and integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues into investment practice. Previously, I practiced environmental law for almost 30 years, and for a number of years led the environmental practice, at Goodwin Procter LLP. My practice focused on Superfund matters, brownfields redevelopment, compliance and disclosure matters, corporate, real estate and private equity transactions, clean tech clients and strategies, as well as a wide range of pro bono matters. I was active in the leadership of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy & Resources (SEER), where I served on the Council, as Education Officer and on various program committees including chairing the Keystone Conference on Environmental Law. I began my career as an environmental engineer. I graduated from Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. I live in Ipswich, Massachusetts. I have two grown sons and three grandchildren living in Northern California. In my spare time, I am an avid skier, cyclist, golfer, hiker and outdoorsman, and love to travel and spend time with my partner Jane Begala. I also serve as chair of the Board of Deacons of First Church in Wenham, on the board of the Ipswich Rotary Club, and on two other nonprofit boards. I am currently working on several local land and water conservation projects and issues in Eastern Massachusetts.
